Would you like to bring or join a group for either yoga, birdwatching or angling at Basunti?

YOGA at Basunti is special. The setting is perfect for beautiful and peaceful sessions with several places for practice according to the season, the time of day, weather and the inclination of your group. The circular shaded yoga shala is surrounded by a deep moat with the calming sound of rippling water disturbed only by the occasional playful splash of a jumping fish.

  • The thatched Balinese-style dome of the Yoga Shala keeps it cool throughout the day
  • Yoga Shala ready - before class
  • Morning asanas with cooling lake breezes
  • Sunset evening yoga class on the roof deck

The Yoga Shala's Balinese-dome ceiling design and its lakeside proximity mean that even in the hottest parts of the day the centre remains wonderfully cool. Its subtle lighting means the shala can be used both day and night. The shala, some 10 metres in diameter can hold classes of up to 20 students.

Classes are also held on the large terraced roof of the main house with its 360° panoramic view of the lake and can accommodate classes of up to 20. There is also a smaller mezzanine roof for classes of 8-10 students. Massage facilities are also available.

The first inaugural week's retreat at Basunti was conducted by leading yoga teacher Sandra Sabatini, who describes it as "a very special place". Sandra, who was a student for many years of Vanda Scaravelli (author of Awakening The Spine), has subsequently conducted an autumn retreat at Basunti each year. She will be leading a one-week retreat at Basunti in 2008 - from October 4th to October 11th.
